Christmas in July Race Series

Something for Everyone!! 5K/10K, 6/12/24-Hour + Santa Fun Run

The Christmas in July Races will take place in Lisle Community Park on July 17-18, 2015. These races are in the evening and will include Santa Claus Fun Runs, 5K, 10K, as well as, 6/12/24-Hour timed event races. This is a great venue for the entire family with strollers allowed during the 5K and 10K races. Surely no one would mind if Santa showed up so early this year that he was wearing shorts, and even sweating a little. So much the better if it gave us all an excuse to dress up and get into the holiday spirit just a few days after the July 4th fireworks celebration.

16th Annual Annie Ryan Run -  5K & 1 Mile Kids Dash

Sunday, May 17, 2015

On May 17, 2015, we will proudly host the 16th Annual Annie Ryan Run to benefit Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago’s Children’s Programs. We do it in memory of a little girl who left us too soon but whose spirit and smile will always be with us.

Annie Marie Ryan was born August 10, 1984, the youngest of our six children. For twelve and a half wonderful years we were blessed with her presence. She was a feisty child, full of life and love, with a smile that could light up a room! We lost Annie to a brain tumor in January of 1997. As a family, we came to the realization that the only way we could really heal was to try to help other children.

This year marks the 5th annual Run for Hope, now Cupcake Classic. The Cupcake Classic (formerly Run for Hope) is a Kids One-Mile run, and a 5K run (or walk for those that just want to stroll through this beautiful Downers Grove neighborhood) to raise money for the Noah's Hope Fund. It is a timed event which starts near Blackstone Drive and 67th Street, and takes participants through the surrounding neighborhood of Downers Grove.
The name has been changed to Cupcake Classic, because once participants cross the finish line they will be participating in the area's largest birthday party. It is a birthday party to celebrate Noah and Laine VanHoutan's birthdays, and to help us continue the fight against Batten Disease. As runners and walkers cross the finish line they will receive a delicious birthday cupcake.
After the event, celebrate with your family and friends at the post-race festivities on the North-East grounds of McCollum Park, behind the Fire Station. Ronald McDonald join in the celebration, along with face painters and balloon artists.
The Noah's Hope Fund was developed by the VanHoutan family from Downers Grove whose 2 children are suffering from Batten Disease, a terminal disease in which there currently is not a cure.

Join us for our 4th run/walk to raise money for Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection (SCAD) research. Spontaneous Coronary Artery Dissection (SCAD) is a cause of a heart attack and death not associated with the typical risk factors of heart disease.
Unlike the typical heart attack, SCAD is relatively uncommon and often impacts younger, otherwise healthy individuals. SCAD occurs more often in women than men. Research is needed to answer fundamental questions such as what causes SCAD and what are the best treatment options.
The 5K run/walk will take place on an USATF Certified crushed limestone course. The course winds through the preserve’s prairie, woodland, and marsh habitats.
All participants who register by April 18, 2015 will receive a 5K t-shirt. We cannot guarantee a t-shirt to those who register after April 18.
In addition to registering, please consider forming a team and/or creating a personal fundraising webpage, with a fundraising goal. You can ask your family, friends, and co-workers to donate money towards your goal and to post a message of encouragement. You may want to name and dedicate your team or fundraising page to someone who has experienced a SCAD event.
